Fran Mishler (nee Greenberg) was born and raised in Pennsylvania, in the northeast section of Philadelphia. Her parents were very active in synagogue life, and transferred by example the values of Judaism and the importance of belonging to a synagogue community.
In 1989, Fran began teaching Hebrew School part time at Temple Sinai, of Dresher Pennsylvania and knew immediately that this would be her career path in life.
Fran received her BA in Religious Studies and Elementary Education at Florida International University and furthered her Hebrew and education credentials with additional training at both Florida Atlantic University and Gratz College.
Once in Florida, Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus in North Miami Beach, became Fran’s home immediately. For 18 years she was an educator, serving throughout that time as an elementary school teacher, youth director, camp director, Bar/Bat Mitzvah coordinator, and finally their own Director of Education (the latter for 11 years). During her tenure, the Religious School at Beth Torah grew to 300 students, and it earned a reputation as one of the best Religious Schools in South Florida.
In addition to her time at Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus, Fran also served as Director of the Broward County Judaica High School at the Orloff Central Agency for Jewish Education (CAJE) in Davie, FL, strengthening that program by focusing on outcome-based learning and using social media and other new technologies.
As a lifelong Jewish learner and professional Jewish educator, Fran has instilled her love and knowledge of Judaism and Eretz Yisrael in the children and families of the communities she has served. Her warmth, compassion, and creativity are undeniable, as is her commitment to Jewish education. She started as Temple Solel’s religious school director in June 2016, and is looking forward to the next part of her Jewish Educational journey.
