Shlishi School
For 7th – 12th Graders, our mission is to engage our teens through experiential education, empower them to be knowledgeable, active members of the Jewish community and create social experience to have fun with their Jewish friends. In addition to their social time together, all of our teens have numerous learning opportunities with our Rabbi. Dinner is included.
Our Tuesday night Shlishi School program is a wonderful educational and social opportunity for our teen to acquire Jewish skills, strengthen his/her Jewish identity and prepare him/herself to live according to Jewish traditions and values. This joint venture between our Education and Youth department combines formal as well as informal and social learning environments. Our Rabbi engages in both classroom and outside venues to create lasting relationships with our teens. Those who participate have the opportunity to focus on learning Judaism through a variety of lenses while socializing with other Jewish teens.
Rabbinic Involvement
Our 7th and 8th grade teens meet monthly with our Rabbi. 9th -12th graders meet weekly on Tuesday nights for “Tuesdays with Rabbi” to discuss current Hot Topics through a Jewish lens, prior to their youth activities. 11th and 12th graders meet monthly at local restaurants for dinner and discussion.
Youth Group
As a Temple affiliated with the Union of Reform Judaism, SOLTY (Solel Temple Youth) is affiliated with NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth).
7th and 8th Grade
SOLTY- J, is the “junior version” of SOLTY (Solel Temple Youth). SOLTY-J meets every Tuesday as a part of Tuesday night Shlishi School. In addition to the weekly programs, SOLTY-J participates in one NFTY-STR weekend kallah each year, called Hatikvah Kallah. SOLTY-J is a great opportunity for meeting new friends and connecting on a whole other level with old friends. Your experience as a Jewish teen does not end at Bar/Bat Mitzvah, it is only the beginning!
9th – 12th Grade
SOLTY, meets every Tuesday as a part of Shlishi School, and has some weekend events as well. SOLTY’s wide range of programs and events gives everyone an opportunity to participate in the activities work for them! PARTY is run jointly by the elected SOLTY Board of high school students and the Director of Youth Engagement. As members of NFTY, we participate in three weekend kallot each year. SOLTY is not just a youth group… over the last year we have truly become a family. We are an ever expanding, tight knit group of high schoolers, whose friendships last a lifetime!
